A Project to Reduce Underwater Noise in Cartagena
The LIFE Port Sounds project, funded by the European Union, seeks to minimize the impact of underwater noise generated by maritime traffic in the Port of Cartagena. Through monitoring, noise management and mitigation measures such as reducing the speed of ships, this initiative led by the Port Authority of Cartagena promotes sustainability and the protection of marine fauna.

Maritime traffic in the Port of Cartagena (Murcia, Spain) has increased exponentially in recent years, and has become the main source of continuous noise in the local marine environment.
